We’re an established, growing and award winning Brunch Restaurant! We’ve appeared on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Travel Channel’s Best Places to Pig Out, Cooking Network’s Food Paradise, Phantom Gourmet, Chronicle as well as many others! With all of this attention we’ve exploded and need your professional help!
Currently we’re looking for a pastry Sous Chef. Although we’re mainly a brunch restaurant we have always leaned to the sweet side of things! Our weekly specials as well as our main menu items have SWEET all over them! We’re looking for someone to help with the SWEET side of things in our kitchen. This would include the development of new innovative specials, new spreads, cookies, pastry items, cakes and the like! We’ve always wanted to develop a sweet bakery down the road and this would be a great launching point for anyone who wanted that in their future.
Along with the pastry responsibilities we would train you on how to operate in our kitchen. Work the line during service and maintain administrative duties like helping train, hire, terminate. Help with placing orders, supervision of staff, help with menu development and any other duties that go along with running a working commercial kitchen under the current Chef/owner’s direction.
We’re looking for individuals who are leaders and have pastry experience in the field. We hope that you want to take your career to the next level by developing new items, creating custom pastries for customers (sugar cookies, cakes, etc.). We’re looking for people who are not afraid of responsibility, can handle a fast paced culinary environment and who is looking for advancement opportunities as we grow! You’ll need to have a very high sense of urgency while working on the line. Brunch service and it’s customers depend on speedy service and meal preparation. And you’ll also need to be able a culinary leader on a busy weekend (550-700 plates/day in a 99 seat restaurant!).
Our style of food is traditional to new American. We like to have the standards plus have some menu items that will WOW (mostly centered around pastry / sweets) – Just check out our Instagram if you want to see what we do (@Inapicklerestaurant). Once you’re settled we hope to update and revise our current menu with your outstanding input!
We also look for culinary passion, and a desire to advance in this industry…its a must!
This is an early morning position and it requires you to be at the restaurant sometimes at 6a
A demanding sense of urgency
A current and clean drivers license (there’ll be driving involved to pick up supplies)
Currently Serve Safe Certified
Massachusetts Allergy Awareness Certification
Clean cut and professional appearance and attitude
Open availability 7 days including weekends and some holidays (it’s usually a 50 hour work week, but you need to have those days/times available and flexible)
Reliable personal transportation
Must have at least 2 years pastry experience or a pastry degree from a credited culinary school
Labor control and P&L experience is a plus.
You must have demanding speed and be a quick learner who’s looking to take on responsibility.
Basic to intermediate decorating skills. Sugar cookies, Cakes, Cupcakes
Previous experience with chocolate, chocolate sauces, and spreads.
Extremely creative and motivated to push the limits
Self motivation…creativity and a desire to learn is a must!
Residence located within 30min drive of Waltham,Ma
At least 2-4 years working in a commercial kitchen setting
2 years pastry experience or a pastry culinary degree.
Must have a reliable car or within walking distance of the restaurant
* Hourly pay (60-70k based on 50-55hr work week)
3 month performance/salary evaluation
* After 6 months employment 2 weeks (10 days) scheduled paid vacation. More days added after a year or employment.

We are an award winning brunch restaurant Featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Travel Channel’s ‘Best Places To Pig Out’, The Phantom Gourmet (X2), Wicked Bites, Chronicle, and soon The Cooking Channel’s Food Paradise! We’re open from 7am-3pm everyday except Tuesday. We have 99 seats and have been in business since 2004. 90% of our customers are regular customers. We also have an auxiliary kitchen/bakery being built on our lower level that will be mixed use for ghost kitchen/bakery/prep kitchen/patio kitchen.
