Bridal Magazines Feature Wedding Cakes Designed by CSCA Alumna Lisa Raffael

Lisa Raffael, owner of Delicious Desserts in Falmouth, Massachusetts, was busy last fall baking cakes for segments in two magazines devoted to all-things wedding. The March/April 2008 issue of BRIDES magazine and the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of Boston Magazine's Weddings feature wedding cakes baked by top wedding cake designers, including Raffael.

In its first-ever feature devoted to America’s 50 Most Beautiful Cakes, BRIDES magazine highlights bakers from around the country in a 22-page spread that displays the skill, inspiration, and artistic heights a wedding cake can achieve.

Raffael, an instructor in The CSCA Professional Chef's Program, was selected by the editors of BRIDES magazine to participate in the issue in October 2007. Lisa crafted her cake with pearlized lavender fondant with gum paste hydrangea blossoms and candied pearls.

All 50 cakes are featured online at www.brides.com/cakes, where readers and online visitors can vote for their favorite, plus the chance to win the cake of their choice for their wedding day.

The segment in Boston Magazine's Weddings issue featured different wedding venues. Raffael's Delicious Desserts was selected as the go-to for wedding cakes on Cape Cod. Her three-tiered "pearls and scrolls" with gum paste violets adorned page 114 of the magazine in a feature on weddings in Chatham, Massachusetts.

Raffael graduated from the Professional Chef's Program in 1992 and opened Delicious Desserts in 1993. She has appeared on the Food Network's Challenge twice competing in wedding cake and specialty cake challenges and participated in the TJ Martell Foundation Country Celebrity Cake Decorating contest. She was voted CBS's A-List Best Wedding Cake 2006 and 2007.
